We all have that one friend...or if you're lucky a group of friends, who are your "Steel Magnolias." Our founder Miss Heidi says,"in the South, a Steel Magnolia is a woman who can do it all, while raising kids and working, volunteering, helping others, goin' to church on Sunday, all while exemplifying both traditional femininity and an uncommon fortitude. When others wilt in tough times, the Steel Magnolia stands tall."
One of the all time greatest movies, aptly named Steel Magnolias, was a 1989 American comedy-drama film, set in Louisiana. It was a warm and witty celebration of friendship, Southern style. It featured strong women, who stood by each others side, in good times and in bad. In happy times and in sad. It serves as the inspiration for this endearing piece of art.
Our handmade clay Steel Magnolia is a sweet symbol of the most cherished kind of friendships, those that cannot and will not be shaken. Its leaves are gilded in gold leaf and its shape is that of a Southern crown, of which so many Southern women are deserving. Each piece is unique in design, just like Southern women!
